Recipe~Almond Milk

Soak 1 1/2 cups raw almonds in filtered water for at least 6 hours.

Drain and put in blender...

Cover with 4 cups of filtered water.

Blend on high...

Until it looks like milk.

Strain into a suitable container.

I save the almonds bits for adding to hot cereal (or dry it in a warm oven overnight to use as toppings for ice cream, pie, etc...

Use almond milk as a substitute for regular milk. I use it in my morning shake and with my hot cereal. Try it as a creamer.

Aerogardens~1st gardens finished

First gardens are done...the lettuce bolted and the herbs out grew the space, I potted them up and gave them to a friend. I also gave her a bunch of my outside stuff, I am going to start working on THAT part of the remodel a bit later on. I had many things she needed for her garden plan so it was a win-win situation. (my favorite kind)

I bought a 3rd garden a while back and am going to try and fit in on the same space...I have bought some new plant kits to try...the small one came with an herb array, so it will get that. The 7 podder will get 3 kinds of hot peppers (!!!!) and the new 7 podder is going to get more lettuce and I am adding some romaine to it. I will post pics when I get them planted.

Good Morning~Breakfast Shake

I have been working on perfecting this for a few weeks...and after much trial and error...this is what I have been drinking most mornings.

2/3 cup Low Fat Milk
1/8 cup Goji Berries
1/8 cup Golden Flax seed
1 scoop Protein powder (Kashi-GoLean)
1/2 cup fresh Blueberries
2 tsp Dr Ben Kim Greens
7 ice cubes

Put all ingredients into blender and hit high speed. I use a spoon to eat this as it is quite thick. You may adjust ice accordingly. Other berries may be used when in season.

Yes, it is a funny green color...but it is also tasty and delicious!

More Hydroponics

In desperate need of a trimming...all clippings go in my dehydrator.

After being trimmed and with my new cloth throw.

This boy is keeping me in fresh lettuce for sandwhiches and while he can't keep up with my love of salad...has certainly cut down on what I have to buy.

I bought a new AeroGarden...this one is a 7 podder like my other...but I got it with the Master Gardener Deluxe kit. This one has everything for a full years worth of growing...except for the seeds. So now I have to find room for the new kid in the middle of my remodeling mess, and I have to make a decision on what to grow...

Fresh Herbs....

I have clipped my hydroponic herb garden back twice in the last couple of weeks...and used the clippings to make a fabulous vegetable dip.

Take a carton of sour cream (read the lable, if it says more than 100% real cream, you don't want it) snip fresh herbs into small pieces, (I used mint, sweet basil, purple basil, thyme, dill, parsley and chives) stir well and chill over night to let the flavors mingle. Use as a dip for fresh veggies...I prefer sliced cucumber and baby carrots.
